Because Health is your Asset

A lot of women have been scammed by expensive anti cellulite creams that don’t work. For some it’s possible they didn’t use the product long enough, results can take some time to achieve. How ever the truth is some products are just glorified skin creams.

Can you get results using a cellulite lotion? We want to believe this is true, and I think it is. You just need to know how to pick the best products.

Look at the Ingredients

The number one ingredient used in anti cellulite lotions is caffeine. If you’re considering a cream check the ingredients and you should see caffeine or coffee extract as the first or second ingredient. If it’s not that doesn’t mean don’t buy it but look into the ingredients included. It’s these ingredients that will actually reduce the look of dimples on your things so be sure you understand what they can do for you.

Consider Guarantees

It’s becoming more of a fad these days offering a money back guarantee, but in a world where consumers are getting smarter all the time merchants have to do something to build confidence in their products.

Before buying any cellulite removing cream take the time to see if they offer a guarantee. How long is it? Is it a full money back offer or is there a restocking fee? How about on used or unused portions of the cream?

Choosing the best cellulite cream comes down to be an educated consumer. Letting yourself get suckered in by a beautiful ad in a magazine or a crazy hype campaign usually spells disaster unless you know what you’re buying.

Finding great joy in helping others and the love of challenge are two of the key ingredients to becoming a nursing assistant. If you find yourself bored with cookie-cutter jobs that offer the same exact things day in and day out, then becoming a nursing assistant could be the job for you. With the needs and personalities of each patient varying, you can rest assured that it isn’t your ordinary day job.

Lets face it, most of us have at some point or another heard of nursing assistants but don’t exactly know what nursing assistant duties are aside from the basics of helping a patient get dressed if required, bathing the patient either by sponge bathing them in bed, or helping them to their shower or bath and bathing them there. It could also involve sometimes feeding the patient if they are unable to feed themselves but nursing assistant duties go far beyond the basics and are important in providing key information for both the registered nurse and the doctor.

Great personal and communication skills are imperative to becoming a nursing assistant.  While attending to your daily duties, you are not only helping the patient with their various needs, you are also remembering to chart things such as food and liquids consumed so that the doctors and registered nurses can refer to it at a later time. Charting vital signs, which can be done while changing the patients clothing, or helping them into their wheel chair are also valuable nursing assistant duties which are key to the optimal health of your patients.

Becoming a nursing assistant means having a keen eye for detail, and being able to observe and make notations for the persons behavior throughout the day and also their reactions and behaviors in regards to certain tasks that you may help them perform or perform for them, such as putting on make-up, or helping them to the toilet.

If your passion in life is helping another and can easily adapt to changing situations and have a great eye for detail, then this can be a long rewarding career for you. Your patients and colleagues will appreciate your dedication to providing the best possible care for those you’ve been blessed to serve, and the reward is in knowing you’ve done your very best in providing them everything they need.

When I think of battling common bacterial infections, I think of myself as an ancient soldier, preparing for battle and putting on the armor that is going to protect me. It’s the same thing here but instead of protecting me for war against nations, this armor is designed to protect me from a war within my body caused by common bacterial infections.

As with viral infections, bacterial infections are a way of life. While we are mostly safe from bacterial infections that create life threatening illnesses, there are some that if left untreated, can result in death. Some of these include tuberculosis and the sexually transmitted disease Chlamydia which isn’t life threatening by themselves but left untreated can result in infertility.

In most cases common bacterial infections tend to be centralized to certain parts of the body such as groin, sinus, lungs, and throat- most of which often produce pus, swelling and pain.

While common bacterial infections can range from skin irritations, to food poisoning, the causes of some bacterial infections can be found below.

Probably one of the most common sources that are causes of bacterial infections such as E. coli is contaminated kitchen-working areas. Since bacteria cannot be seen with the naked eye, having a clean working surface and utensils is more than wiping down the area with a damp cloth.  Remember that one of the bacteria rich environments can be a kitchen sponge, so run them through the dishwasher regularly and make sure your kitchen is cleaned and sanitized, including utensils and storage containers to avoid spreading common bacterial infections.

Restaurant staff who don’t adhere to safety and health standards are the main cause of food poisoning in restaurants. Handling money and food without properly washing and sanitizing their hands are one of the main causes of bacterial infections, and could highly reduce the rate of food poisoning if these rules were adhered to.

Another cause of bacterial infections such as Salmonella or Listeria is improper handling of food. While Listeria is mostly caused from using unwashed vegetables, poorly handled meat, or by using unpasturized dairy products, Salmonella is caused by poorly handled food and results from eggs which have been infected with the bacteria, all of which is caused by poor storage and refrigeration procedures and is simple to correct by adhering to more strict food handling and storage procedures.

While this certainly isn’t all of the causes of bacterial infections, I’ve covered some of the most common, which will allow you to ultimately armor yourself from common bacterial infections.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a home health nurse to the rescue! If you love nursing but prefer an at-home setting to the hospital, a home health nurse may be the perfect career for you.

Many people who have a regular home health nurse who comes into their home on a regular basis may look at them as the “Superwoman” of the nursing field, offering them quality, personal care within the confines of their own home.

Home Health Nursing is a fast growing profession that is perfect for the professional nurse who prefers to work independently, and who possess great personal, clinical and communication skills. Home health nurses should be able to recognize any complications with existing conditions, plus any oncoming conditions and be prepared to alert the patients’ doctor if treatment is needed.

For those nurses who find themselves loving a classroom environment and both the medical field, finding that they can do both by becoming a Public Health nurse is often the perfect solution to their dilema.

The goal of a Public Health nurse is to identify the needs of a particular community and help them prevent potential health issues from becoming issues in their particular community, and this is done generally through classes and lectures in both the workplace and in the targeted community.

The public health nurse is often the voice of various health officials such as health educators, physicians, and nutritionists just to name a few. She works closely with these and other health officials so she can stand in the front lines reaching out to schools, and the residents of each community to educate them on prevention of various diseases and disabilities within the community itself.

If the home health nurse is considered the superwoman of the home health setting, the public health nurse is definitely the superwoman and voice of health in the community, both of which offering different, yet invaluable roles to the communities in which they serve.

While home health nurses require no additional certifications aside from their normal nurse licensing procedures, the public health nurse are required to have a bachelors of science degree in nursing with a public health nursing certificate. Both are different but equally rewarding nursing careers.

You woke up this morning feeling like you’d been hit with a truck- You’ve been coughing and sneezing non-stop; you feel lethargic and have no energy; you have a runny nose and to top it all off aches and pains in places you didn’t realize could have aches and pains. In spite of how you may feel, the good news is that you are going to be fine. The not so good news is that your body has been hijacked by a host of viral infection symptoms otherwise known as the flu or common cold.

Many people confuse viruses and bacteria and lump them in the same category when they find themselves feeling bad. However, while bacteria finds its way into your body and actually feeds itself from your body (comforting thought, I know) a virus actually invades your body, hijacking cells for the sole purpose of reproduction. This is why, when you have a virus (such as the flu, or cold) you tend to feel bad throughout your entire body and when you have a bacterial infection they tend to be more localized, to a specific body part or area of your body.

Now that I’ve cleared up any confusion that you may have of common viral infection symptoms and bacterial infections, let’s move on to finding out about viral infection treatments.   After all, you want to stop feeling this way as soon as possible, with yesterday being the best option.

Speaking in terms of the common cold and flu, they are rarely a serious threat to the healthy human body, because our bodies have antibodies that are designed to fight off these infections. With that being said, these things do take time. A couple options of viral infection treatments of the common cold and/or flu are plenty of rest and perhaps a flu shot. While the flu shot does not cover all strains of the flu, it will cover the most common and possibly help keep you from contracting the virus. Drink plenty of liquids to help keep you hydrated. In addition, if you have a fever or are experiencing a sore throat, take some over the counter medication to help reduce the viral infection symptoms.

It may take a few days but remember that even though you may feel horrible, antibiotics are useless when it comes to viral infections, and you’re just going to have to wait it out.

With viruses being spread in various ways- (HIV/AIDS) through blood-to-blood contact, through the air and by inhaling them or the virus finding its way through an orifice, they are here to stay. Unless you are prepared to lock yourself away in a bubble, you will have to get used to the fact that viruses are a part of life and sooner or later, they’re going to affect all of us.

It’s a very common ingredient found in various pharmaceutical products. Chances are you’ve heard of it before. But you may not know what it is exactly and how it is used.

What is it?
This isn’t some exotic substance. In fact, you have retinol in your body right now as you read this! It’s merely a certain form of vitamin A. Normally you get this in your food through various forms. When it comes to skin care, they use they usually use the form known as retinoic acid (retinol).

The Antioxidant Antiaging Miracle?
One of the most promising benefits of retinol is its effect on wrinkles and other signs of aging such as discolored spots. You see retinol A works differently than many other treatments out there. While other creams try and merely cover-up these aging signs after they occur, retinol works to try and prevent further damage, as well as changes the way your skin works so you can improve the wrinkles you already have. It does this by making the cycle at which you grow and replace your skin cells faster.

Which Products Use It?
Because it is such an effective treatment option, there are tons of products out there which use it. However be careful, because you need to pay attention to their concentrations. What is the best retinol A cream is not always what you would think. Some of them charge a lot for a tube, but their strength is only mediocre. This is why many people go with the prescription versions which are surprisingly similar in price to the non-prescription versions. The brand Renova was the first prescription to hit the market for wrinkle treatment, but since then, there have been other versions developed which are more affordable.

Hydroquinone Cream

Skin bleaching is a trend that has really caught on in the last fifty years, but it should be noted that even ancient cultures performed this practice. When people hear the phrase “skin whitening” or hydroquinone, many cringe in disapproval, but this is actually an important medical treatment for a number of difference diseases which discolor the skin.

Melasma
This is a condition which causes patches of skin to turn gray or tan for no apparent reason. It is more common in pregnant woman. Scientists believe what triggers this “mask of pregnancy” are the body’s hormonal changes during the process. These changes are even more out-of-whack if there have been things like hormonal therapy used in order to induce pregnancy. One of the most effective methods used to treat this has been hydroquinone cream. How it works is that it reduces the pigmentation in the skin where it is applied.

Vitiligo
This is of course the famous dermatological condition that Michael Jackson had. It’s genetic and found more often in darker skinned individuals. What will start off as one pale spot, can turn into massive patches of skin lacking pigment. If you’re African-American, the side effects are even more pronounced since you will have patches of your normal black skin, along with patches of what looks like albino white skin. Unfortunately there is no known treatment to darken that skin which has lost its pigment. In this circumstance, some people choose to use hydroquinone lotion to just “bleach” all of their skin out so it matches.

Dark Spots
These darker spots of skin can arise from any number of sources. They may be scars from old acne. They can be caused by excessive sun exposure over the years which leads to patches of hyperpigmentation. Whatever the cause, they can be extremely embarrassing, especially if they are on your face. Many dermatologists prescribe hydroquinone products for patients to apply on these spots of discolored skin.

Nowadays, there are a plethora of creams on the market which all claim to treat wrinkles. You can find them ranging in price from a couple dollars, all the way up to almost a thousand dollars just for a silly jar of cream! For the consumer, it can be a real headache deciphering which ones are hype and which ones actually work for reducing fine lines and deep wrinkles.

When choosing the one that’s best for you, there’s a few important things to consider:

Price
As mentioned, there’s a wide range of what you can pay. Generally speaking, you will probably need to pay at least $20 to $50 for the most effective products. If you really want a great one, plan on spending around $100 to $125 for one tube or bottle. Anything that costs more than that, such as the famous Crème de la Mer, is in my opinion just better marketing, not necessarily a better product.

Prescription
There are a few prescription products out there too. Most of these are a retinol-based tretinoin cream. The first few weeks you use them you do experience some ugly side effects like peeling, but after you adjust to the tretinoin, the results can be remarkable.

Over The Counter
More commonly, people go with OTC products they can get without a prescription. You can pick these up at your local corner store or you can shop for them online. What is the best over the counter wrinkle cream? Well, there are many that make the cut, but personally I like to choose retinol based products. That’s the same ingredient used in the prescriptions but the over the counter versions just use a less powerful strength.

How To Deal With Keloids

by Admin | August 26, 2009 | In Skin Care No Comments

If you suffer from keloid scars, you’re not alone. This is a condition that effects millions of people across the globe. It’s unknown exactly how many people suffer from it, but estimates range anywhere from 1% to 5% of the population. People with darker skin, such as African-Americans, tend to be more susceptible to it. The cause is unknown but evidence points to genetics having a big part to do with it.

New Keloids
These usually appear for the first time when your in your late teens and onward, however they can show up at any age. One of the first places people often get are keloids from piercings. For some unknown reason the ear and nose cartilage is more susceptible than some other parts of the body. But wherever it forms, the sooner you can treat it, the better. You see these scars harden after they form, so removing keloids is much easier the sooner they’re caught. Some people even claim to be able to eliminate them completely using various creams and oils if they’re caught in the first few weeks. However, home remedies should not be your first choice. Only a doctor has the medications necessary to treat it right. So get in to see a doctor right away, preferably one that specializes in skin care, if you think you are developing one of these pesky scars.

Old Keloids
Now these are usually tougher to treat. Fortunately there are several keloid removal techniques for this type of scar. There’s everything from radiation to injections. For most people, the common way they are removed is by a dermatologist. He or she will usually inject the scar for a period of a few weeks with a steroid to loosen up the tissue. The doctor will then perform keloid removal using a scalpel. Although this sounds scary, rest assured that it does not hurt. Anesthetic is used and if you would like to be put under, that is an option too.

There are a number of benefits to getting older: you have more wisdom, experience, you’re further along in your career, and perhaps you even have kids. Unfortunately, along with the good comes the bad… our looks start to fade. Whether it’s wrinkles, age spots, sagging body parts, or all of the above – it’s never fun!

Some people choose to age gracefully in a natural manner. Others try and turn back the clock by resorting to various cosmetic surgery procedures, anti-aging lotions and potions, and even some extreme treatments like hormone replacement therapy. As the baby boomers age, things which were once taboo, like breast implants and rhinoplasty, are now a common practice. But before you hop on the bandwagon, there are some very important things to consider:

Safety
Nothing is more important than our safety. The last thing you want to do is jeopardize your health for beauty. Unfortunately, unintended outcomes are fairly common within this arena. Just consult any plastic surgery forum or bulletin board online and you will see there are many, many unhappy customers. However, there are also great numbers of satisfied patients too. Your chances for a successful surgery are much higher if you go with a reputable board certified surgeon.

Costs
Can you afford these procedures? A face lift alone can run up to $25,000 once you take into account the surgeon fee, anesthesia, and operating room. If you need to take out loans to finance, you may want to reconsider.

Alternatives
Are you just looking for a minor change? When it comes to things like wrinkles and eye bags, there may be help outside the operating room. Using the best under eyes treatment creams and serums can help tremendously when it comes to reducing dark circles and puffiness under the eyes. There are also a number of effective anti-aging products which can help improve wrinkles. Now you can’t expect them to be a cure, but they do improve the appearance of these ailments for many people.
